The Research Promotion Policy


The research policy of Sourashtra College aims to create and support a research culture among its teachers, staff and students and enhancing the professional competence of the faculty members for developing and promoting research aptitudes of all learners. It is also trying to realise the vision and missions of the college and for contributing to national development by providing the required resources and appropriate facilities.

The research activities of the college may bound with all applicable rules and regulation as well as the established standards and norms relating to conduct of research at college and University level.

    Scope of the Research Promotion Policy

    The research policy of the college shall apply to all the researchers of the college and define the term 'researchers' as follows

  • All staff, temporary and permanent, who are active in teaching, research, administration and provision of any form of support to the core functions of the college.
  • All research students enrolled with the college.
  • All mentors, guides, external experts and sponsors associated with any of the research activities of the college.

The research policy shall apply to all the research and related activities of the college and it also include exercise of

  • Research activities including basic, strategic and applied research undertaken either for fulfilling the requirements of academic degrees or for solving problems
  • Knowledge gathering and communication initiatives for keeping academic developments in any knowledge domain such as writing of textbooks, chapters of textbooks, monographs; developing/updating curriculum, etc.
  • All leave letters should be countersigned by the parent or guardian in the case of day scholars and in the case of resident students, by the deputy warden concerned.
  • Research activities involving the generation of new ideas, innovations, hypotheses, images, performances or objects, including design in any field of knowledge which leads to the development of new knowledge, understanding or expertise;
  • Research projects of students undertaken as part of the curriculum or for enriching it
  • Publication, presentation and communication of the research outcomes and related activities
  • The policy provides rights and power to the Management for adopting any changes in the policy during a course of time.

Composition of Research Cell

Research Cell has the following composition:
  • Principal – Prof. N.H.SARAVANAN -Chairperson
  • Dean – Dr.J.DURAICHAMY-Member Secretary
  • Two teachers – Dr.M.S.BALAJI, Dr.G.SIVABALAN-Members
  • Industry/Academia representative - Thiru.S.K.R.RAMESH, Immediate-Past-President, Sourashtra Chamber of Commerce, Madurai-Member
  • Two student representatives -Mr.P.PATHAMUTHU, Ms.B.MAGDALINE SREEJA JOSEPHINE -Members
Research Cell may be expanded with the inclusion of more members as necessary
